Sometimes improving joint movement is only part of the picture.
Tight, irritated, or overworked muscles and connective tissues can contribute to pain and make movement uncomfortable. That's where soft tissue therapy can be useful.
At Axis Chiropractic, we frequently use soft tissue treatment alongside chiropractic care to address the muscles and surrounding tissues involved in a patient's condition.
Soft tissue includes muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and other connective tissues throughout the body.
These tissues can become sore, tight, or irritated following an injury, repetitive work, exercise, prolonged positioning, or simply doing more than your body is accustomed to.
We commonly use soft tissue therapy for problems involving the:
• Neck and upper back
• Lower back
• Shoulders
• Hips and legs
• Knees
• Calves and feet
It can also be helpful when treating sports injuries, work-related problems, muscle strains, and plantar fasciitis.
Soft tissue therapy at Axis isn't a separate, one-size-fits-all routine.
We focus treatment on the muscles and tissues that appear to be contributing to your symptoms. Depending on the problem, this may involve hands-on treatment, stretching, movement recommendations, or other soft tissue techniques.
For example, someone with shoulder pain from repetitive overhead work may need a very different approach than a runner dealing with calf tightness or plantar fasciitis.
Joints and muscles work together.
If a joint isn't moving comfortably, surrounding muscles may tighten or compensate. Likewise, tight or irritated soft tissues can affect how comfortably you move.
For some patients, addressing both areas makes more sense than focusing on either one alone. Soft tissue therapy can therefore be used before or after an adjustment, or on its own when appropriate.
The goal is simple: reduce discomfort, improve movement, and help you get back to the activities that matter to you.
We provide soft tissue therapy for patients in New Ulm and surrounding Southern Minnesota communities as part of individualized chiropractic and musculoskeletal care.
